During the Friday senior sessions, a group of 13 young people aged 13 – 17 have been engaging in three progressive stages of the London Youth City Leaders Program.

Working in partnership with the City Bridge Trust and the Corporation of London, the City Leaders project has inspired the young people to make changes in their own lives, in the Avenues and in the community in which they live.

Throughout the project the young people succeeded in engaging over 100 of their peers by planning and delivering an under 18’s party to remind everyone that Avenues is a fun place to be.  The party proved to be extremely successful and planning and delivering this type of event every three months is something that the young people hope to do in the future to encourage young people to use the services available to them at the club.

As the project ends the young people attended Barclays Bank head office in Canary Wharf to make a pitch for £600.00.  The group made a presentation for a project that would focus on the impact of knife crime and youth violence.  The young people hope to do this in the form of a comic that will engage young people in schools and the local community.
