Over 70 people attended a drinks reception held at New Avenues to mark our 38th anniversary.  It was a chance to recognise the good that we have done with public funding over this time, and to share ideas on how the sector might cope in a much less certain future. Westminster City Council Leader, Cllr Nickie Aiken, spoke of the need to reconsider how youth services are funded, and spoke of her wish to introduce a voluntary charge to super prime homeowners.   Gary Younge, the Guardian journalist, spoke eloquently about the need to ‘pay forward’ the investment in our youth, rather than wait to pick up the pieces and the larger costs down the line.

The canapés were freshly prepared in our kitchen by our latest partner – Petersham Nurseries – who launch their Pop Up cafe at New Avenues next week.

The drinks bar was sponsored by Cath Kidston.

We are really grateful to everyone who came and for the supportive messages we have received since.
